I am a biological oceanographer at the Norwegian Polar Institute in Tromsø, Norway. My research focuses on the Southern Ocean's sea ice zone, where I investigate phytoplankton dynamics, sea ice biogeochemistry, and marine biogeochemical cycles—specifically the biological carbon pump. To collect these vital data, I participate in field campaigns to the Southern Ocean every austral summer. My methodology integrates satellite observations, direct water and sea ice sampling, and the deployment of autonomous platforms like seagliders, floats, and moorings, alongside ecological modeling to better understand the functioning of polar systems.
